International recognition of the name of the seabed topography named after Chairman Hiroshi Iwamiya of T.S.K2017.01.31
The Sub-Commission on Seabed Names, which is under the umbrella of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), held a meeting in Boulder, U.S.A., to officially define the world’s seabed topographic names. “The name “Iwamiya Kaizan” was given to Hiroshi Iwamiya, the second president of T.S.K, in recognition of his contribution to oceanographic research through his efforts to popularize measurement equipment.
