Support for new observation platforms

The University of Tokyo, Institute of Industrial Science, Research Center for Underwater Observation and Implementation Engineering, Yusuke Yokota, Lecturer, and Pro Drone Co. Ltd. have developed a new observation drone to improve the efficiency and speed of underwater and seafloor observations. The drone is equipped with a portable XCTD observation device (MK-150P), which enables automatic dropping of the XCTD probe from the air.

As research and development of the drone’s airframe performance and power source progresses in the future, it is expected to be used as an ocean observation drone for a wider range of applications, including resource exploration and geodetic surveying.
